Not actually ribs but meaty shoulder cuts — they turn saucy and tender in the slow cooker with almost no effort. Freeze in the sauce.

Ingredients

  • 3 lb country-style pork ribs
  • 1 tbsp Smokehouse rub
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce
  • ½ cup broth
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar

Instructions

  1. Season the ribs with the Smokehouse rub. Lay the onion in the slow cooker and set the ribs on top.
  2. Whisk the BBQ sauce, broth, and brown sugar, and pour over.
  3. Cook on low 7–8 hours until tender.
  4. For sticky, caramelized edges, transfer to a sheet pan, brush with sauce, and broil a few minutes.

Make-Ahead & Storage

Freeze in the sauce up to 3 months; vacuum-seals well for reheating from the bag. Broil after reheating if you want the glaze back.

Notes

Great over rice, on buns, or alongside the cheesy potato bake. Swap in a spicier sauce for more kick.
